Description
Female gray wolf, Tashina, from the Wolf Mountain Nature Center. The 'main pack' moved to a 9 acre enclosure that we finished this summer. We added a photography platform to the new enclosure and this was taken on our first time trying it out. Tashina seemed to think that we humans had lost our minds, climbing up into 'trees' and such. It was actually raining that day but that hardly bothered the wolves.

Vision
Originality Technique ImpactI like the sharp focus of the wolf against the blurred leafy backgrounds. To me this image feels very balanced because the wolf is grey but in focus and the leaves are bright but blurry. The positioning of the wolf is good, the eyes are almost central and therefore grab the viewer's attention. Also I think the upward strokes of the fur have a sort of organic look like a growing tree which fits in great with the leafy background. The pose of the wolf makes it look playful like a domesticated dog, which ties in with the friendly and humerous sound of the title. This was originally a comment but I just kept finding more to say. Well done, it's a lovely photo.
